Numerology or Da Liu Ren: which should you read?

They answer different questions. Numerology is strongest on recurring themes, quickly and coarsely. Da Liu Ren is strongest on one specific event and how it resolves. Run on one identical birth they do not contradict each other so much as describe different things.

The same person, both ways

One birth, 15 June 1990, 07:30, Hong Kong, run through both systems:

The real difference

Numerology in Meridian treats the birth date as an arithmetic object. Calendar digits are reduced into scalar values such as Life Path 4, while compound number 13 remains meaningful as a karmic debt. Its interpretive unit is the number produced by that reduction.

Da Liu Ren does not reduce a date into a personal number. Meridian sets the question moment across the Heaven and Earth plates, then reads how the Three Transmissions meet them. The Twelve Spirits qualify those encounters. A Da Liu Ren reading is a changing configuration around a question, not a numeric signature carried by its asker.

These answer different kinds of question. Numerology reads your birth and describes something stable. Da Liu Ren reads the moment you ask and speaks to one decision. Comparing their conclusions directly is a category error.

Which should you use

Try it on your own chart

Meridian lets you choose which method to cast, from one set of birth details. Read one, then read the other, and compare them yourself rather than trusting anyone's summary.

Recurrence across unrelated systems is not proof that either is true. It does tell you a reading is not an artefact of one method's machinery, which is the honest version of what comparing traditions is good for.

Both headline results computed by Meridian's engines on 2 August 2026 from one identical birth: 15 June 1990, 07:30, Hong Kong. The engines are deterministic, so the same input returns the same chart.

This page compares how two systems calculate. It does not interpret a chart and is not advice.
