Vedic astrology or Human Design: which should you read?
They answer different questions. Vedic astrology is strongest on timing, through planetary periods. Human Design is strongest on how a person is built to make decisions. Run on one identical birth they do not contradict each other so much as describe different things.

The real difference
Vedic astrology preserves the sky's internal relationships. Meridian reads sidereal planets as occupants of a chart whose houses are anchored by the ascendant. A planet's meaning changes with its house, its lordship, its aspects, and its condition. Mercury in the twelfth house from a Gemini Lagna is read within that web of relationships.
Human Design uses planetary positions as coordinates for a different map. Meridian translates each planet's degree at birth, plus the Design calculation roughly 88 days earlier, into I Ching gates. Gates link centres through channels and establish the Body Graph's definition. Mercury does not carry house rulership here. Its degree activates a gate, which may complete a channel with another activation. The two systems begin with a birth time and planetary positions, then organise them into different kinds of chart.
Both read your birth, so both describe something stable. Neither will tell you whether to act this week.
Which should you use
- Vedic astrology if your question is about timing, through planetary periods.
- Human Design if your question is about how a person is built to make decisions.
- Both if you want to know whether a theme holds up when the machinery changes. That is the only thing reading two systems buys you, and it is worth more than it sounds.
Meridian lets you choose which method to cast, from one set of birth details. Read one, then read the other, and compare them yourself rather than trusting anyone's summary.
Recurrence across unrelated systems is not proof that either is true. It does tell you a reading is not an artefact of one method's machinery, which is the honest version of what comparing traditions is good for.
