Western astrology or Numerology: which should you read?
They answer different questions. Western astrology is strongest on psychological pattern and motivation. Numerology is strongest on recurring themes, quickly and coarsely. Run on one identical birth they do not contradict each other so much as describe different things.

The real difference
Western astrology reads angle. A relationship between two planets is a measured arc on the ecliptic, ninety degrees for a square, one hundred twenty for a trine, and the aspect exists only because the geometry is continuous. Shift the birth time by minutes and the angles move, sometimes enough to drop an aspect out of orb entirely. For 15 June 1990, 07:30 in Hong Kong, that geometry places the Ascendant at Cancer, one degree on a wheel of three hundred sixty.
Numerology reads sum. The date becomes digits, added and reduced until one number remains, so 15 June 1990 collapses toward a Life Path of 4, with 13 flagged along the way as a karmic debt number before reduction finishes. There is no orb here and no near miss. The arithmetic either lands on a digit or it does not.
Meridian runs both because a continuous angle and a reduced digit are different kinds of pattern, and one cannot check the other's math.
Both read your birth, so both describe something stable. Neither will tell you whether to act this week.
Which should you use
- Western astrology if your question is about psychological pattern and motivation.
- Numerology if your question is about recurring themes, quickly and coarsely.
- Both if you want to know whether a theme holds up when the machinery changes. That is the only thing reading two systems buys you, and it is worth more than it sounds.

Recurrence across unrelated systems is not proof that either is true. It does tell you a reading is not an artefact of one method's machinery, which is the honest version of what comparing traditions is good for.
